Hi everyone
Anyone know of a way to intercept all soundcard output and stream it over a network to a hifi amp (surround sound receiver)?
I'd like to stream all soundcard output, rather than just streaming music playback from a single application. I realise streaming can be done easily from single applications, Windows Media Player, VLC, whatever.
The reason I need all soundcard output is to get the output from digital DJ software (Traktor) which allows me to specify the output device. It does also support streaming to a shoutcast/icecast server theoretically but I've never played with that option but it might be the way to go.
There's quite a few wifi audio adaptors which accept streams from the network but they seem to be designed for streaming from phones/tablets etc. http://www.myrocki.com is one I found but the details about the PC streaming are extremely vague.
If it involves a Raspberry Pi plugged into the hifi as a network receiver running shoutcast/icecast/whatever, then I'm fine with that as a project.
But I still need a way of getting the audio off the laptop/computer and to the receiver, with as little latency as possible as well.
Some sort of virtual soundcard driver would be awesome, which could just be selected as any other standard windows audio output device. But I've not managed to find anything like that.
Anyone got any ideas/comments/suggestions?
Cheers, B
